Impossible to get an appointment or get through on the phone. The rottweilers on reception will send you to the walk in centre if you were having a heart attack in the reception area! When I asked about why there are never any appointments I was told by the two receptionists that they are taking on too many romanian patients and foreign immigrants with no new dr wanting to come and work there so she told me they cant cope anymore and I should register at chertsey surgery. Absolutely disgraceful.

Doctors are fine, receptions etc. are a major problem. Had an appointment for 10.30am, arrived at 10.27am just as a text came through to say appointment had been changed to a tepephone appointment! I complained, pointing out that that this was part of a long list of problems, including the fact that my wife got through at the ninety-seventh attempt (yes no exageration) this morning (appointments are only given by ringing first thing in the morning and there is no proper queing systeme). Having complained I was told that if I didn't like I could go and find another practice! What is going on at this practice. Where are they recruiting suce poor admin staff. Not all of them are like this but there appear to be individuals who do not care.

Over the last 25 years I have always had the very best care at the Crouch Oak Family Practice, from healthcare assistants and nurses to GPs. I have been a regular patient due to several serious health issues, most recently a serious chronic condition - I admit it can be difficult to get continuity by seeing the same GP, but I have always found that the receptionists try their best by prioritising cases, and on occasion i have been pleasantly surprised to get a call not from the duty GP but from my own doctor, who tries his best to provide continuity and has intercepted the call. If you need to see a GP on the day, the triage system works well, prioritising patients by the seriousness of the condition, and a doctor will ring you back and ask you to attend the surgery if necessary. This is a very busy surgery, the only one in an expanding town, and it can take a while to get through but you will. An example of excellent care - I recently rang with discomfort in my leg, a hospital scan 10 days earlier had shown nothing of concern. The (new?) duty doctor invited me in to the surgery and, although I had no obvious signs of a blood clot, he sent me for an urgent scan which I had at 8am the next day. This revealed a clot and I was immediately put on blood-thinning medication. I saw this GP 3 times in one day following the scan, once to demonstrate how to inject, nothing was too much trouble - and I was relieved that his efficiency had detected a potentially very serious condition!

The self check in is useful if your appointment is during busy times. The staff are helpful both over the phone and face to face, and will always try their best to deal with your enquiry. The online system for appointments/repeat prescriptions (to name but two services) is very useful , especially for busy families, as you can use it 24/7 The only negative is that you cannot build a rapport with your designated GP (so why have one?) as you never see the same doctor when you make an appointment - but as all your notes are on the computer, this is only a minor issue.

Reception staff is polite and helpful whenever we call. But the calls we received from GP in a rude and disrespectful tone. It seems Crouch Oak family practice is loosing kindness towards its patients. Highly disappointed the way GP treat us.
